What to Look For

BMS Quality

The BMS is the brain of a LiFePO4 battery. Look for: continuous discharge rating (100A+ for a 100Ah battery), low-temperature charging protection (lithium batteries should not be charged below 32°F / 0°C), cell balancing, and Bluetooth monitoring capability.

Continuous Discharge Rating

This determines how much current the battery can deliver sustained. A 100A continuous discharge rating means you can safely pull 100A continuously — important if you’re running an inverter. Cheaper batteries may only support 50A continuous, which limits your inverter size.

Cycle Rating

Most quality LiFePO4 batteries are rated for 3,000–5,000 cycles to 80% capacity at 100% depth of discharge. Budget batteries may be rated lower (2,000 cycles). At one cycle per day, even 2,000 cycles is 5+ years.

Warranty

Look for at least a 5-year warranty. Premium brands offer 8–10 years. Since these batteries should last 8–14 years in practice, a long warranty matters.
